Baggage Fee Updates - United Airlines announced that, effective for travel on or after June 10, 2009, the airline will charge an additional $5 fee to check a bag at the airport, resulting in a $20 fee for the first checked bag and a $30 fee for a second checked bag. The new fees apply to tickets issued on or after May 14. Bags checked-in online will pay $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second.
Delta Air Lines has announced that it has changed its plan to implement a $50 fee for a second checked bag on international flights. Delta's revised baggage fee policy, which takes effect for travel beginning July 1 on tickets issued after May 23, will apply the $50 fee for a second checked bag only to international flights between the United States and Europe. It is important that agents inform customers of the airlines' fee policies when the information has been conveyed to you by the airline.
